The Infinite Bridge |
Introduction:
It's not just bridge to cross the river valley and walk through the water, It's meaning you feel infinite of rest with the beauty of the good design that complete the nature greatness. They used the wood material to simplify construction process, building the bridge off-site and gather it piece by piece after finishing. The bridge was assembled on-site at the beach. The bridge, located where a historic jetty once stood, measures 190 meters in circumference and 60 meters in diameter.

From the architect. The Infinite Bridge is a sculpture by danish architect studio Gjøde & Povlsgaard Arkitekter built and exhibited in connection with the international biennale, Sculpture by the Sea 2015, that takes place in the scenic coastal landscape surrounding the city of Aarhus.
The bridge takes people nowhere, instead it was designed to help people experience the surrounding and become aware of the relation between the city and the magnificent landscape of the bay, according to the architects.
“Walking on the bridge you experience the changing landscape as an endless panoramic composition and at the same time you enter a space of social interaction with other people experiencing the same panorama,” says Johan Gjøde, partner and co-founder of Gjøde & Povlsgaard Arkitekter.

The Never-Ending Promenade of the Infinite Bridge:
In an interesting and unexpected way, the Infinite Bridge also created a link between the present and the history of the specific site, as it reconnected the beach to a long forgotten viewpoint from the sea as the studio's Niels Povlsgaard remarks: ''The bridge touches the landing dock of a previous pier where people used to arrive in steamboats from the city to relax and enjoy themselves.'' If one looks from that point in the sea towards the shore, there is a clear vision of the historic Varna Pavilion with its terraces, restaurant and dancehall that sit on the hillside above the beach and was meant to be viewed from the landing dock of the pier that no longer exists. ''The Infinite Bridge reestablished this historic connection.'' added Niels.

Circular Infinite Bridge provides panoramic views :
Aarhus’ Sculpture by the Sea—Denmark’s biggest annual outdoor sculpture exhibitions—spotlighted nearly 60 fantastic art installations this year, and one of our favorites is “Den Uendelige Bro” (The Infinite Bridge) by Gjøde & Povlsgaard Arkitekter. Built with the help of carpentry students from Aarhus Tech, the wooden circular bridge is set in shallow waters straddling the Thors Møllebæk River. The elevated platform offers panoramic views overlooking the nearby Varna Palace and city, the forest, and the sea.
