ARTICLE 6: PROPERTIES OF FORM - Shape, Size, Color, Texture

Ching says: Every form has 4 properties. Change one, you change architecture.

1- *Shape:* The outline. Square feels stable, circle feels infinite, triangle feels dynamic. Egyptian pyramids: triangle shape = power, permanence. Choose shape that matches meaning.

2- *Size:* Absolute size vs relative size. A 3m ceiling feels huge in a 10m2 bedroom but feels low in a 100m2 hall. Size is always relative. In technical office, always check size relative to human: door 2.1m, not 2.4m, because human scale is 1.8m.

3- *Color:* Light color expands, dark contracts. In hot Egypt, light colors reflect heat and make building look larger, cooler. Dark colors absorb heat but make building look heavy, grounded. Ching says color can change weight without changing structure.

4- *Texture:* Smooth texture reflects light, looks clean, modern, but shows every flaw. Rough texture absorbs light, hides flaws, feels natural. In Egypt, rough stone texture forgives dust and imperfect workmanship. Smooth plaster needs perfect labor.

5- *Orientation and Position:* Same form rotated feels different. A square flat = stable. Same square rotated 45° = dynamic, diamond. Position on site changes meaning: building on hilltop = dominant, same building in valley = protected.

For your shop drawings: Specify properties clearly. Don't just write "stone". Write "Galala stone, light beige, honed texture, 60x60". Properties are your specification language.

Instagram post: Show one form with 4 different properties - same cube, different color/texture/size. People instantly understand form properties. Great for engagement.
