YOUR PORTFOLIO IS NOT YOUR WORK, IT'S YOUR FUTURE WORK

Last lesson of book and most important for your views problem. Frederick says: You will be hired for what you show, not for what you can do.

If portfolio shows only villas, you will get only villas. If shows only renders, client thinks you can't build. If shows only luxury, low-budget client won't call. If shows only Egypt, Dubai client won't trust.

Your portfolio is a filter and a magnet. It filters out clients you don't want, it attracts clients you want.

So curate it: Decide what work you want in next 2 years. Then show only that work. Delete everything else, even if you love it.

Second rule: Show process, not just final. Show parti, show failed iterations, show shop drawing, show site photo, show final. People hire thinkers, not just image makers.

Third rule: One project, one story. Don't put 10 images random. Put 5 images with story: Problem > Constraint > Idea > Detail > Result.

You asked "How to get views". This is answer: Your LinkedIn is not gallery of past work. It's advertisement for future work. If you want to work with Sodic, June, Cairo Business Park level developers, show technical office excellence: clear drawings, coordination, mock-ups, site execution. Don't show fantasy towers.

Final truth: The profession is 20% design, 80% communication, listening, budgeting, drawing, coordinating, site solving. School taught you 20%. The 80% is what this series taught. If you master 80%, you become manager, partner, owner. If you stay only in 20%, you stay junior.
